LIPOR Waste Treatment

A large waste-treatment campus needed better lighting quality, lower energy consumption and stronger sustainability performance. Schréder provided a connected LED lighting system designed to optimise light levels, reduce consumption and enable full-site monitoring.

Results:

  • Drastic reduction of energy consumption
  • Full-site monitoring and control
  • Safer experience after dark while respecting surrounding nature

Frequently asked questions about our lighting design service

What is a lighting study and what does it include?

A lighting study is a technical document produced by our engineers that models the photometric performance of a proposed lighting installation. It typically includes illuminance and luminance calculations, uniformity ratios, glare indices, energy consumption estimates and compliance verification against the applicable standards (EN 13201, CIE 140, CIE 88, etc.).

Who is your lighting design service for?

Our service is designed for local authorities, project designers, engineers, contractors and facility managers responsible for specifying or commissioning outdoor lighting. Whether you are planning a new installation, retrofitting an existing network or upgrading to smart controls, our team can support your project from initial brief through to commissioning.

Which lighting simulation software do you use?

We work with DIALux and Relux, the two most widely used tools in the industry, as well as Ulysse 4, our own independently validated photometric calculation software with dedicated modules for roads, tunnels, sports and obtrusive light.

Can you design for a specific lighting standard or local regulation?

Yes. Our engineers are experienced in designing to EN 13201, CIE 140, CIE 88 and CIE 189, IES RP-8, AS/NZS 1158 and country-specific frameworks such as CETU in France. We can also adapt designs to project-specific or client-defined requirements.

How do you address light pollution and ecological impact in your designs?

Light pollution is a measurable design parameter, not an afterthought. We use obtrusive light calculations in line with CIE 150 guidelines to control spill light and sky glow. We also specify optics and spectral profiles that minimise disruption to nocturnal wildlife, and we integrate adaptive dimming profiles where smart controls are in place. Every design aims to deliver the required performance with the lowest possible ecological footprint.

Do you provide support beyond the design phase?

Yes. As a separate service, our commissioning support ensures the design is correctly implemented on site, with verification of installation, configuration and performance before handover.
