Tábor lighting upgrade

Traditional ALBANY luminaires enhance the historic centre of Tábor after dark with less energy

Tábor has been one of the most important cities in Czech history for centuries. Its distinctive character, signature look and unique spirit are evident in every street and the atmosphere. The historic centre, with its numerous Gothic and Renaissance monuments, is a treasure that deserves to be both protected and sustainably developed.

When the city council decided to upgrade the public lighting, it wanted luminaires that would hamoniously integrate the old town and complement its identity. It chose the ALBANY luminaire, whose elegant and classic design perfectly echoes the historical architecture of Tábor.

Urban lighting to complement historic ambiance

The traditional shape of the ALBANY luminaire naturally enhances the charm of the ancient streets. It does not distract from the surroundings, but rather emphasises the heritage. Installed in two different shades of grey, the luminaires evoke the metallic sheen of ancient armour, paying homage to Tábor's historic warriors.

When darkness falls and the city lights up, the streets of Tábor are transformed into a safe, and welcoming landscape, bathed in a soft, pleasant white light that invites people to stroll and linger. The atmosphere is calm, cosy and harmonious – just like Tábor itself.

Better quality of light with less energy

Between 2017 and 2025, the town replaced 3,434 luminaires as part of the public lighting upgrade programme, including 537 ALBANY luminaires. The new energy-saving luminaires have signifcantly improved the quality of light while saving 1,160 MWh of energy per year.
