Schréder strengthens its 60-year legacy in sports lighting by joining the FIFA Quality Programme for Floodlights
Schréder, a global leader in smart LED sports lighting, has achieved official product accreditation within the FIFA Quality Programme for Floodlights.
This prestigious recognition validates Schréder’s commitment to delivering high-performance lighting solutions for football venues at all levels, ranging from grassroots clubs to professional stadiums.
Launched in late 2023, the FIFA Quality Programme for Floodlights sets a global standard for lighting quality, safety and broadcasting excellence. Following independent testing that confirmed its ability to meet the most rigorous standards for performance and durability, Schréder’s OMNIBLAST floodlight has officially been awarded FIFA Quality Pro certification.
A Heritage of Sports Lighting Innovation
This qualification is the latest milestone in Schréder’s 60-year history of innovation in sports lighting.
The company’s commitment to sports infrastructure began in 1962 with the Estádio das Antas in Portugal, the home stadium of FC Porto. Schréder's mercury-vapour floodlighting technology meant that matches could be played at night, fundamentally changing the way fans experienced the game.
Since this landmark installation, Schréder has continued to illuminate some of the world's most renowned sporting venues, including Brazil’s Mineirão Stadium and Hungary’s Hidegkúti Nándor Stadium, the first in Eastern Europe to be lit exclusively by LED technology. By joining the FIFA Quality Programme, Schréder is aligning its 60-year heritage of innovation with new global standards for the modern era.
Designed for the highest levels of competition, the modular OMNIBLAST ensures full compliance with international federation regulations. Its flicker-free technology is specifically engineered for UHD/4K broadcasting, delivering crystal-clear, super-slow-motion replays for global audiences.
The FIFA Quality Programme for Floodlights was developed to help stadium owners select systems that meet the highest quality and performance standards. This certification confirms that our technology provides optimal conditions for players and ensures that fans enjoy the most vivid, high-definition experience possible.
Certified Excellence
The performance of the OMNIBLAST can be seen at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa. Originally built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the venue has recently undergone a cutting-edge lighting upgrade to maintain its status as a world-class sporting venue.
This installation marks Schréder’s first project to be officially certified under the FIFA Quality Programme for Floodlights, proving that even historic venues can achieve the pinnacle of modern lighting standards. With this certification, Schréder enters a new era of excellence, ensuring that the next generation of football is seen in the best possible light.
