The Co Ma Tunnel is a 2 tube tunnel that was built as part of the Ca pass tunnel and road project to reduce the travel distance for commuters by 8km between the Khanh Hoa and Phu Yen provinces and to help them avoid landslides during the rainy season.
Opened in September 2015, vehicles can travel at a maximum speed of 80km per hour through this 500m long tunnel. The tunnel operators wanted an energy-efficient lighting solution that would ensure safety and comfort for all users at all times.
They opted for the GL2 Compact thanks to its low energy consumption and high luminance uniformity which offers a bright white light to guide users in complete security. In addition, the GL2 Compact provides symmetrical and asymmetrical light distributions with a wide range of lumen packages to light all the different zones (access, threshold and interior) of a tunnel.
A total of 704 GL2 Compact luminaires were installed along throughout the tunnel, providing the different light levels that are required.
This is the first 100% LED tunnel lighting solution in Vietnam and the users as well as tunnel operators are delighted with the result.
