Berg Bock Tunnel

Highly resistant luminaire for aggressive mountain tunnel

The Berg Bock Highway Tunnel represents the southernmost link of the Thuringian tunnel chain of the A71 motorway in eastern Germany. It comprises two tubes each 2.7km in length. As the tunnels run through rugged mountains, a highly resistant luminaire was essential for this aggressive environment. The PF5 which is made from a composite material was ideal for this tunnel as it is resistant to all types of corrosion.
Approximately 500 PF5 luminaires fitted with high-pressure sodium lamps were installed in a discontinuous central line to light this tunnel.
