The passage from the train to the bus stop is obstacle free, ensuring a safe and easy journey especially during peak hours

Landen’s train station was at the heart of an extensive redevelopment plan to transform it into a functional and attractive transportation hub that would serve the needs of the community. The area around the station was redesigned into 3 interlinked zones incorporating the:

  • Car park
  • Station esplanade and
  • Bus station.

The objective of this transformation was to increase accessibility, improve public safety and enhance the mobility option and facilities for all passengers.

The platforms of the bus station were re-integrated to facilitate an intuitive, easy and efficient passage for the commuters from the train to the bus, especially during peak hours.

The short distance between the train platforms and bus stops are obstacle free.

The lighting and urban furniture were critical for the success of this project in providing a safe passage and a simple attractive design for the zone.

Schréder was delighted to have provided a full scope solution to transform this station which has a daily impact on the life of numerous people.
The bus stations are lit by 20 Nemo luminaires which were specifically adapted to incorporate the bus display panel, so avoiding the need for an additional column.
Schréder also provided the bus shelters, seats and litterbins. The bus shelters were fitted with 4 TiltLED floodlights to reinforce a sense of safety and visual comfort. Noctis Mini floodlights were fitted under the seats to create a pleasant nocturnal ambiance.
The lighting columns and furniture have the same pure design and colour that provide a welcoming environment for passengers while they wait.
A total of 50 Scala Maxi luminaires were installed at a height of 10m to light the car park and esplanade while 50 Noctis Midi illuminate the paths. The surrounding streets are also lit by 80 Scala Midi installed at a height of 6m.

As functional as it is beautiful, the Schréder solution has contributed to the success of transforming this station into a transportation hub with a strong sense of safety and well-being.

The lighting and urban furniture contribute to creating an environment where people feel comfortable
