2015 - International Year of Light

The United Nations has declared 2015 as the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies (IYL 2015).
The IYL 2015 partnership, formed in 2010, is a cross-disciplinary educational and outreach project with more than 100 partners from more than 85 countries, accompanied by the UNESCO International Basic Sciences Program.
It incorporates scientific societies and unions, educational and research institutions, technology platforms, non-profit organisations and private sector partners to promote and celebrate the significance of light and its applications during 2015.
