Built in 1923, the Olympic Stadium in Kiev underwent extensive renovation based on a design by the German architects GMP to host the UEFA championship in July 2012. Working in close collaboration with the architects and the lighting design office, Conceptlicht, Schréder provided lighting for most of the public areas. Over 1,200 Cubo luminaires light the main entrance hall, VIP and spectator areas. Over 600m of the LEDbeam illuminate the upper ring of the public seating area. These luminaires are controlled by a DALI system to provide dynamic effects during the event. The most spectacular lighting has been achieved by 640 specially designed luminaires which illuminate the magnificent roof of the stadium, creating a striking feature in the landscape. They also have a DALI colour variation system so that they can be dimmed according to the requirements during the matches.
