BJ

Description

In normal conditions: visual guidance for motorists.
In case of fire: efficient guidance for motorists or pedestrians and emergency services, even through smoke.

The beacon in die cast aluminium includes two sealed windows in polycarbonate or tempered glass, as well as two circuits each including 12 amber, blue or green LEDs.
The beacon is mounted with stainless steel screws.
Electricity is supplied either by a cable and socket, or by a compression gland, or by connectors on the back of the beacon.
Optional: in the case of a 230V direct power supply, the device is provided with a box containing the transformer. In this case, the two screws used to mount the beacon allow access to the box.
Electricity is supplied via a compression gland.
A second compression gland can be installed permitting a looped feed.

Advantages

  • No maintenance whatsoever
  • Very long-lasting diodes (LEDs)
  • High tightness level (IP 67) during the whole lifetime of the guidance beacon
  • Very high level of protection against corrosion due to a specific treatment, identical to the one applied to luminaires
  • Resistance to impacts and vibrations
  • Compact
  • Non-electrostatic material
  • Washable with a high pressure jet with no risk of deterioration

Thanks to its 12 LEDs on either side, the BJ guidance beacon acts as a visual guide both in normal conditions and when there is smoke due to a fire.
A direct 230 V power supply is also possible –
in which case a transformer is integrated.

The Mont Blanc tunnel is equipped with the BJ guidance beacon. The emergency lighting in the tunnel was completely revamped following the deadly fire in 1999.

The BJ guidance beacon provides maximum intensity in a 4° angle of vision, which is optimal for both emergency services and motorists or pedestrians heading towards emergency exits.

Installation

Very rapid assembly and disassembly: installation on a wall or the ground using two M8 stainless steel screws.

Electrical installation
In the case of a direct 24V power supply:
- crossover cabling is possible by putting a second compression gland or a connector behind the head of the device.
When a beacon is unplugged, it is possible to keep the line electrically live by joining the two connectors.
In the case of a 230V power supply:
- the transformer is integrated into the box. A releasable plug is used to connect the box and the beacon. The transformer can be very easily accessed via the two screws situated at the front of the unit.
Consumption: 2 W - 0.08 A

Photometry

This table shows that the maximum intensity is reached in a 4° angle of vision, which corresponds to the position of motorists in normal traffic conditions, or of pedestrians who are heading towards emergency exits.

Options

  • Insulating base to be placed between the unit and its support
  • Any RAL colour
  • Choice of LED colours
  • No box for direct 24V power supply
