SHADOWS AND LIGHTS

The Puntila ensemble was developed by the German designer Walter Giers. The steel curved cylindrical-conical lighting columns are fitted with brackets and come in heights varying between 4.5 metres and 10.5 metres.
Several luminaires can be fitted to the lighting columns and the curved shapes of the poles further accentuate the impression of lightness emanating from the Puntila ensembles.
The plant-like design of the Puntila is perfectly suited to installation in large urban spaces such as public squares or esplanades.
The Puntila creates original light effects drawing on the interplay of shadows and lights. The nocturnal appearance has been given particular attention by emphasising the coloured body – yellow, red or green – of the luminaire in a transparent manner.

IN THE CITY AT NIGHT, FEEL AT HOME

The principle of the lighting system which equips the Puntila ensemble relies on the creation of a luminous flux that generates a specific atmosphere. By a succession of zones of light and shadow, the Puntila creates a series of spots of light for public applications.
This alternation enables urban areas specifically designed for pedestrians to be punctuated by light or the absence thereof.
At night, due to the luminous flux of the lamp, the luminaire’s translucent body colour plays a full part in the rhythm and playful appearance that the Puntila imprints on the urban setting.
