Straits Design Sdn Bhd was incorporated on 9th March 1990 as a joint venture company between the Principal, Messrs Schréder of Belgium and local partners. The company initially started with only trading activities but moved very quickly in to the local assembly of selected fitting types under a License and Transfer Technology Agreement made on 21st September 1990. Within the following year, Straits Design Sdn Bhd officially started manufacturing light fittings.
Straits Design Sdn Bhd has established itself as a specialist lighting system provider with manufacturing facilities in Bukit Rahman Putra, Sungai Buloh, Malaysia and manufactures a full range of street and floodlight fittings. The expertise and experience gained in this area has been used to develop a complete product range for schemes involving decorative lighting, lighting for building facades and tunnels as well as sports and industrial lighting.
Todate, we have delivered more than 200,000 lighting fixtures to the local market, the majority of which is for road lighting purposes. We have successfully commissioned many major highways among which is the Penang Bridge, the Shah Alam Expressway and the Elite Highway. We have also assisted in the design and commissioning of the entire external lighting system for Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Tanjung Pelepas Port.
