The city of Tilburg wanted to combine their love of art in public spaces with function when lighting the city’s main artery, the ring road. Within the framework of the city’s KORT programme (Art in Public Spaces), Schréder, in collaboration with two Dutch designers, Dirk Rutten and Jesse Visser, developed and manufactured the Cercle luminaire with the latest technology.
This state-of-the-art luminaire is equipped with 2 reflectors with either a 60W or 140W Cosmopolis lamp to provide the main lighting for the road (only one of the reflectors is in use normally, the other reflector is present in case of an emergency). A ring of integrated high-power RGB LEDs creates a striking artistic feature while a dynamic variation system provides fun lighting effects.
The Cercle luminaires are installed at 3 different heights (6m, 8m and 10m) and are tilted at different angles (from 5° to 20°) all along the 3km long road to enhance the visual effect.
The Cercle is fitted with 195 dynamic RGB LEDs which give a coloured glow to the luminaire.
