LEDs are being hailed as the future of lighting. There is no doubt; LEDs are increasingly present in our environment. They have a vital role to play in lighting due to their numerous advantages: compact size, long lifetime, low maintenance requirements, white light, increasing luminous efficacy and extensive design capabilities for creating colour and dynamic ambiance lighting… LED technology has reached a point where the luminous efficacy and life expectancy make LEDs ideal sources for applications where this was not the case as recently as one year ago. They are a major light source choice for architectural lighting and illumination and are already challenging traditional light sources in public lighting applications.
